Santa Rosa is the commercial and population hub of Sonoma County. It has the county administrative offices (including the building permit offices, and court houses), a two story indoor mall bookended by Macy’s and Sears department stores, plus an active Apple retail store front. Among the medical facilities is the Kaiser Permanente hospital. Just north of town is the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts that brings in national as well as local performing artists. Big-name musicians perform at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts.The Sonoma County Airport has nonstop flights to many west coast cities with virtually no waiting in line. The Charles Shultz museum is a must see for lovers of his iconic Peanuts comic strip. Nearby, hands-on exhibits at the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County include a mini train station. The Santa Rosa Junior College provides a nursing program, wine business and culinary education and well as an affordable stepping stone to university programs.
