Kenwood

There are certain days during the late summer and fall when the sun sets in just the right way, that it floods the narrow valley that Kenwood sits in with a luminous golden light. It is on those days that highway 12 with its with vineyard cloaked hillsides, earns its designation as a scenic corridor. It is positively magical. A couple of my favorite spots in Kenwood are the Cafe Citti, for lunch and dinner. Citti is one of those Italian restaurants you will always remember as unpretentious, intimate and serving the best Tuscan-style food you ever tasted. Another worth stopping for is VJB Vineyard & Cellars. Its tasting room, deli and pizza oven with outdoor seating in a walled patio will let you imagine you’ve been transported back to the old country. Swede’s Feeds is also a hoot to visit with all its whimsical animal sculptures. The 10 foot high dinosaur is my daughter’s favorite.
